Description

PROGRAM OFFICER, LAC

At FH Canada, we believe transformation happens when local communities are in the driver’s seat. We walk alongside partners around the world who are leading their own development journeys—fostering resilience, gender equality, and hope for generations to come. As part of our International Programs team, you’ll help bring this vision to life by strengthening community-led initiatives that create tangible, lasting impact as our Program Officer, assigned to the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region.

About You

You are passionate about community-led development and believe lasting change happens when local voices lead the way. You’re energized by cross-cultural collaboration and thrive on building strong, trust-based partnerships that deliver measurable results. You bring curiosity, humility, and a deep respect for the knowledge and leadership of local partners.

You’re skilled in turning data and insights into action, using results-based management and MEAL systems to strengthen program impact. You have in-country experience supporting local projects and you are fluent in the Spanish language (written and oral). Whether you’re connecting with partners, collaborating with global colleagues, or writing donor reports, you bring clarity, consistency, and compassion to every interaction.

THE JOB

Role

As Program Officer, you will oversee a portfolio of international program partnerships for the LAC region, ensuring the effective delivery of FH Canada–funded initiatives in alignment with our 2030 strategic focus on Partnering for Impact. In this role, you will:

  • Strengthen community-led impact by facilitating participatory program design, monitoring, and learning processes that center local voices.
  • Support partnerships through regular communication and in-person visits —ensuring clarity, accountability, and shared learning.
  • Oversee program quality and compliance, including financial planning, performance monitoring, and reporting, in alignment with FH Canada and donor requirements.
  • Support grants and donor relations, providing relevant data and impact stories to engage institutional and private donors, and supporting new funding opportunities (especially with Global Affairs Canada).
  • Foster collaboration and learning, contributing to inter-partner knowledge exchange and thought leadership that advances faith-driven, community-centered approaches to development.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, humanitarian response, or a related field (Master’s degree an asset).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in international development or humanitarian relief, managing or supporting program implementation.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with results-based management, MEAL systems, and one or more technical areas such as gender equality or food security.
  • Experience with Canadian charitable regulations and GAC-funded programming is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish with proven ability to navigate the nuances of working across cultures and contexts with grace and integrity is considered a significant asset.
  • Detail-oriented and data-savvy, with the ability to synthesize both quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Alignment with and commitment to FH Canada’s mission and values.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada and travel internationally.

THE DETAILS

  • Location/Hours: This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in Canada. We offer a flexible work schedule within core collaboration hours, supporting both autonomy and connection in a digital-first environment.
  • Travel: Up to 6 weeks per year nationally and internationally. Valid passport required.
  • Compensation: $68,000-$80,000 annually, based on level of education and experience. A full suite of additional benefits include full employer paid medical, dental, RRSP matching, and generous paid time off.
